Server logs for Discord: see who changed what
Kirzen records what happens in eight categories and posts each one in the channel you choose. You turn categories on one at a time.
What gets recorded
| Category | What it records |
|---|---|
| Members | Nickname changes, avatar changes and bots added to the server. |
| Joins | Members who join and members who leave, with the age of the account and how long they had been in the server. |
| Messages | Edited messages, deleted messages and messages deleted in bulk. |
| Channels | Channels created, deleted or changed, and threads created or deleted. |
| Roles | Roles created, deleted or changed, and roles added to or removed from a member. |
| Moderation | Bans, kicks, unbans, timeouts and timeouts removed, cleared messages, locked and unlocked channels, slowmode changes, prunes, automod actions and trap hits. |
| Voice | Joining, leaving and moving between voice channels. |
| Server | Changes to the server, language changes, emoji and stickers created or deleted, invites created or deleted, webhooks created, changed or deleted, and integration updates. |
How to set it up
You need the Manage Server permission. The setup option turns a category on and chooses its channel in one step. You can also enable or disable a category, change its channel, list the current configuration, and reset one category or all of them. Kirzen has to see the channel, send messages and embed links there.
Where the record is kept
Every log Kirzen posts to Discord is also kept in the dashboard, where you can search it by who, what or when. It is there for the day someone takes the server apart and deletes the log channels.
By default Kirzen keeps 30 days of entries and up to 20,000 per server, and keeps entries marked as alerts for 180 days. You can change this in the dashboard.
What it does not do
- It starts off. Nothing is recorded in a category until you turn it on.
- It does not look back. It records what Kirzen sees happen, from the moment a category is on.
- Joins can be noisy. In a raid many people join within seconds. That is why joins and leaves have their own category, which starts off like the others.
Questions
Do logs start on?
No. Every category starts off until you turn it on, and the setup option does that and picks the channel in one step.
Can each category go to a different channel?
Yes. Each category has its own channel.
Does it log what happened before I turned it on?
No. It records what Kirzen sees from the moment a category is on.
What happens if someone deletes the log channel?
Kirzen also keeps the logs in the dashboard, where you can search them, so the record is still there.
Does Kirzen log who joins and leaves?
Yes, in their own category called joins. It starts off, because a raid can fill a channel in seconds. The members category keeps recording nickname and avatar changes and bots being added.
